Overview

How Tapmap finds your app's events, and what makes a good map.

How Tapmap works#

You upload an Android build. Tapmap installs it on an emulator, taps through every screen it can reach, then reads the app’s events back from your Mixpanel project and links each event to the tap just before it.

The result is a map of your app: every page, what each button does, and which event it sends.

What makes a good map#

Two kinds of events decide how much the map can tell you:

  • A screen-view event on every screen. It names the page and lets you count visits. See Screen views.
  • An action event on every button that matters. It turns a ⚠ on the map into a green dot. See Action events.

Then check Prepare your build before you upload, so the crawler can reach and name everything.
